Congratulations 2022 NASA Scholarship Awardees

In the summer of 2022, the NASA Starport Exchange had the pleasure of awarding four deserving students with the 2022 JSC Scholarship Award.
Arianna Anchondo, University of Houston
Valeria Jimenez, likely to attend Texas A&M University
Camden Boxie , likely to attend Sam Houston State University
Mark Keller, Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Houston Community College and later Texas A&M University
Each student was awarded the financial support of a $4,000 scholarship to be used towards tuition, room and board, as well as other expenses that can accrue when entering college.
“I am incredibly honored to be a 2022 NASA Starport Scholarship winner. It was a great feeling to be recognized for all the hard work I have put into my education and extracurricular activities over the past few years.” Arianna Anchondo
Funding proceeds for the JSC Scholarship Program are derived directly from the Annual NASA Golf Tournament held each spring. For over 13 years, the NASA Golf Tournament has provided financial assistance for JSC civil servants and Starport Partner employee dependents. Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement, financial need, school involvement and/or community activities.
“Thanks to the JSC Starport scholarship, I will be one step closer to financing my education. This aid will go towards my studies in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M so I may hopefully one day work at NASA. I am extremely grateful to the team at Starport who has worked so diligently to help the next generation achieve their dreams!” Valeria Jimenez
In addition to the NASA Golf Tournament, the NASA Alumni League has also provided generous donations over the years which Starport applies to the scholarship. Starport has also incorporated the NASA Top Golf tournament in 2021, giving golfers and non-golfers alike, another chance to contribute to the scholarship fund.
Congratulations to this year’s scholarship winners.
Starport maintains a college scholarship fund to provide financial assistance for dependents of JSC civil service or reimbursable detailees and dependents of JSC Starport Partners to attend college.
Starport intends to award two scholarships – one for dependents of civil service employees and one for the dependents of Starport Partner employees. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and involvement in school or community activities. The scholarship winners may pursue any course of study leading to a recognized degree at any accredited college in the country.
Individual one-time only scholarships of up to $4000 are given in the amount of $2000 per academic semester or as determined by Starport.
