Lesley Fletcher

Deputy Division Chief, Education Projects and Youth Engagement Office

Lesley Fletcher, who has a doctorate in science education, is deputy division chief for the Education Projects and Youth Engagement Office at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. She manages a team of civil servants and contractors that reaches more than 100,000 educators and youth each year. 

Experience

Fletcher began her career in 1996 teaching biology at the University of West Alabama. In 2000, Fletcher moved to Florida to pursue her doctorate and, in 2002, began working at Kennedy as director of education for the primary life science contractor. She was hired by NASA in 2006 as an education specialist. 

Education

Fletcher received a bachelor’s in environmental biology from the University of Alabama, a master’s in the art of teaching in environmental science and biology education from the University of West Alabama, and a Ph.D. in science education from Florida Institute of Technology.

Personal

Fletcher lives in Merritt Island, Florida, with her husband, Tim, and their son, Levi. She is an avid runner and enjoys SCUBA diving and traveling with her family.
