Management Award
This award recognizes outstanding mid-level managers who exemplify the leadership qualities necessary for mission success, including accountability, empowerment, excellence, honesty, initiative, integrity, loyalty, respect, and sharing.
ELIGIBILITY
Full-time NASA and contractor employees in a mid-level management position or higher are eligible to receive the SFA Management Award. This award should not be used as recognition for longevity, retirement, or separation from service. Only recent work (within the last three years) will be considered. The SFA Management Award can only be presented once to an individual.
CRITERIA
The nominated individual must meet all of the following criteria:
- Accountability – Set continuous improvement goals and measure performance against these goals
- Empowerment – Provide the tools, authority, and trust which allow employees to do their jobs and fully employ their individual talents, creativity, and initiative
- Excellence – Perform in a superior manner. Continually look for innovative ways to improve operations and produce outstanding results
- Honesty – Maintain a fair, straightforward, honorable, and open environment
- Initiative – Always take prompt, decisive action to avoid or resolve problems. Proactively pursues opportunities and seeks innovative technology and methods to enhance program objectives
- Integrity – Set the example by always dealing ethically in all business relationships and by maintaining the highest personal standards
- Loyalty – Demonstrate consistency, fairness, trust, and truthfulness in interpersonal relationships
- Respect – Display professional esteem and courtesy to all employees, no matter how difficult the circumstances or what their relative positions are
- Sharing – Actively share responsibility, authority, effort, enthusiasm, information, vision, talent, and credit
