Associate Chief Scientist, Human Research Program
Kristin Fabre joined the NASA Human Research Program (HRP) as deputy chief scientist in January 2022. She’s currently one of the program’s associate chief scientists. In this more tactical role, she helps formulate HRP’s data strategy and serves as a liaison to other government agencies and the private sector, forging partnership that advance human research in space.
Before joining HRP, Fabre served as chief scientist at the Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH). There, Fabre led the effort to invest in high-risk, high-reward research and technology for space exploration. She worked with NASA, the private sector, and academia to further TRISH research and goals.
Prior to TRISH, Fabre served as the micro-physiological systems lead at the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. Before AstroZeneca, she worked as the scientific program manager for the Organs-on-Chips initiative at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences of the National Institute of Health (NIH).
Fabre received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Wyoming, followed by her master’s degree and doctorate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from Colorado State University. She then served as a postdoctoral fellow in the radiation biology branch at the NIH National Cancer Institute (NCI).
