Baraquiel Reyna

Baraquiel Reyna started his NASA career as a biomedical engineer in 2005. He supported the International Space Station Program’s Health Maintenance System in the Engineering Directorate at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, developing and maintaining the medical hardware aboard the space station and the space shuttle. 
 
Reyna joined NASA’s Human Research Program (HRP) as the deputy element manager of the Exploration Medical Capabilities element in 2011, researching and developing new medical technologies for the Moon and Mars. He also served as the human system integration discipline lead for NASA’s Human Landing System (HLS) Program in 2020. In this capacity, Reyna allocated and implemented health and medical requirements across three commercial HLS industry partners. Currently, he serves as manager of the Maturation and Integration Office within HRP, where he infuses research into NASA’s operational programs to ensure that research goals set now develop into research actions in the future.  

Reyna earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Rice University, a Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and a Doctor of Engineering from Texas A&M.
