Research Directorate
The Research Directorate (RD) at NASA’s Langley Research Center provides premier research and technology development capabilities to the Agency and nation. From aircraft to spaceflight, research is an essential component to the Langley Aeronautics Research, Space Technology and Exploration, and Science mission facing organizations, serving science and mission needs across all NASA mission directorates.
The directorate collaborates extensively with all Langley cross-cutting technical organizations and is comprised of 23 sub-organizations supporting three major areas: Aerosciences, Advanced Materials and Structures, and Intelligent Flight Systems. RD develops and delivers high quality research and test analysis to meet the current and future needs of the Agency customers and the national research and engineering community through stewardship of ground testing capabilities.
