 Pre-landing view of
        Taurus-Littrow

Labelled detail from AS17-147-22466, a view of the Valley of Taurus-Littrow taken from the LM one orbit before the landing.  The Command Module is at the upper left.  The South Massif dominates the entrance to the valley.  Nansen is a particularly large portion of a trench at the base of the mountain.  And the Light Mantle is material deposited across the valley entrance as the result of a large landslide off the South Massif, believed to have been triggered by the impact near the top of the mountain of debris from the Tycho impact, 100 million years ago. Mare Serenitatis lies beyond the Massifs.
