Description

This study will assess injury risk during landing by surveying crew members about any discomfort they may experience during re-entry to Earth and combining that information with sensor data from the spacecraft. This work specifically focuses on landing because it’s the most dynamic event of flight missions.

Impact

This information will influence future simulations and models to improve predictive injury work and help NASA design re-entry protocols and standards to protect crews as missions venture to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

Type of study: Flight

Formal project title: Spacecraft Occupant Risk
