This plot shows data obtained from NASA Spitzer Space Telescope, and the Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment telescope located in Chile, during a microlensing event.

This artist map of the Milky Way shows the location of one of the farthest known exoplanets, lying 13,000 light-years away. Most of the thousands of exoplanets discovered to date are closer to our solar system, as indicated by the pink/orange areas.

Two space-based telescopes, NASA's Spitzer and Swift, teamed up with ground-based observatories to observe a microlensing event caused by a brown dwarf.
