The Final Hubble Servicing Mission

Mike Massimino
After much dscussion, using a little brute force saves the day.

In this image STS-125 mission specialist Mike Massimino participates in the fourth of the mission’s spacewalks to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. During the eight-hour, two-minute spacewalk, Massimino and astronaut Michael Good (out of frame) made repairs and improvements to the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) that extended Hubble’s life. After hours of discussion, Massimino used brute force to remove the hand rail with a stripped bolt to continue the repairs, as shown in the inset.
