Jet Propulsion Laboratory

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory holds a unique place in the universe. We are a leader in robotic space exploration, sending rovers to Mars, probes into the farthest reaches of the solar system, and satellites to advance understanding of our home planet.

A rectangular metallic plate containing a grid of circular color filters for the Coronagraph Instrument on NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. The small, backlit lenses display various hues, including vibrant shades of pink, green, orange, and blue along the top two rows, while several filters in the bottom rows appear dark or semi-opaque where visible light is blocked.
NASA's Europa Clipper spacecraft is seen in the 85-foot-tall, 25-foot-wide (26-meter-by-8-meter) vacuum chamber, known as the Space Simulator, at the...
NASA's Europa Clipper spacecraft is suspended inside the massive, cylindrical Space Simulator vacuum chamber at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The probe, wrapped in reflective silver and gold thermal insulation, features a prominent circular high-gain dish antenna facing forward, extended booms, and intricate scientific components. It hangs supported by overhead cables beneath a circular rig inside the dark, tall chamber, resting above a slotted floor grating illuminated by overhead spotlights.

People in white cleanroom suits stand near NASA's Psyche spacecraft, which is wrapped in reflective silver and black thermal foil. Protruding horizontally from the side of the main body is the Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC) flight laser transceiver, featuring a prominent, cylindrical silver sunshade capped with a gold circular cover. The large spacecraft rests on a support fixture inside a brightly lit JPL facility.

A small, four-wheeled NASA CADRE development rover with a flat amber panel on top drives over a rock in a sandy outdoor test field. The rover features open, spoked wheels with treads and gold foil wrapping along its body. In the background, under a white canopy tent, two researchers—intern Natalie Deo and JPL engineer Sawyer Brooks—sit observing the autonomous drive.

NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover sits on the dusty, rock-strewn surface of Mars with its tall sensor mast angled toward the camera. A short distance to the left, the small Ingenuity helicopter sits on the orange-tinted soil near distinct rover wheel tracks. In the background, a flat Martian landscape stretches under a hazy, salmon-colored sky toward low hills on the distant horizon.
The Sentinel-6B satellite moves away from a rocket stage high above Earth.
The Sentinel-6B satellite, covered in reflective gold insulation with dark solar panels on top, moves away from a rocket stage high above Earth. Below, the curvature of Earth is visible, showing blue oceans, white clouds, and landmasses against the black expanse of space.
