Mechanical Impact in Liquid or Gaseous Oxygen (NASA Test 13A and 13B)

This test provides supplemental information on the reaction sensitivity of materials to ignition by mechanical impact in GOX or LOX.  The test can be performed to meet any of the following objectives:

  1. To characterize the reaction sensitivity of a material at a specific impact energy.
  2. To determine the impact energy threshold of a material at a given pressure.
  3. To determine the pressure threshold of a material at a given impact energy.
