Aeronautics Leveled Readers and More

Bring the history of American aviation to your class with stories written at elementary, middle school and high school levels. The stories include historical accounts of Amelia Earhart and the Tuskegee Airmen, as well as mini biographies of NASA employees Danielle Koch, Maria Cabellero and Red Jensen.

Aircraft are such an important part of our everyday lives that it is hard to believe that they did not exist until a little over a century ago. This section of education resources series brings the history of American aviation to life by highlighting the accomplishments of famous and historical aviators, the options for STEM careers as seen through the stories of contemporary NASA ARMD personnel, and acknowledging crucial milestones in aviation.

A variety of stories are available for use in classrooms and beyond. Each story includes reading comprehension support pages, and some have associated videos or sound clips to enhance the learning experience. Our leveled readers have three versions with increasing levels of text complexity, allowing students in one class with different levels of reading comprehension to read the same topic together and participate in class discussions. As NASA’s aeronautics experiences grow, so will the literary resources available to you.

Each downloadable, printable story has three versions, a teacher guide and assessment options.
