
San Francisco River
iss070e004957 (Oct. 17, 2023) -- A source of irrigation for Northeastern Brazil, the Sao Francisco River is the fourth longest in South America. The body of water flows through five states, passing through regions known to experience low access to water and droughts. The International Space Station orbited 260 miles above the State of Bahia as the photograph was taken.
