
Laura Bollweg
Element Manager, Human Health Countermeasures
Laura Bollweg began her career at NASA in the shuttle program, training astronauts in propulsion and control. After training crews bound for the International Space Station, including the first space station crew, her career has focused on management.
Her goal is to ensure that Human Health Countermeasures research is effectively folded into spaceflight operations. Bollweg’s job focuses on estimating, planning, and programming resources and ensuring facilities are available for future research. Her team supports the development of countermeasures, standards, and requirements to known spaceflight risks. These deliverables ensure successful operations and health of astronaut crew members during all phases of spaceflight.
Bollweg holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron in Ohio and a master’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Houston.
