The Bigelow Expandable Activity Module is an expandable module made up of layers of fabric that expand when installed and equalize with the pressure of the International Space Station. BEAM, a technology demonstration habitat module, is being tested on the station. NASA may one day use expandable modules for trips to Mars. This type of module will take up less space on a rocket for transportation to destinations beyond low Earth orbit.
Download and build an expandable model of the BEAM module.
