NASA Glenn Research Center Director Jim Free recently announced the appointment of Kaprice Harris to the Senior Executive Service position of Procurement Officer and chief of the Procurement Division.
In her new position, Harris will be responsible for the overall management, planning, organizing and direction of the procurement functions and policy in support of Glenn’s mission.
Harris began her NASA career at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, in the Office of Procurement before transferring to Glenn in 1996. She has held a variety of positions, including chief of the External Programs Division and as an attorney in the Office of the Chief Counsel for over 15 years.
“Kaprice’s agency wide experience combined with her leadership will be a valuable addition to our Procurement Division,” said Free.
A native of Prince Georges County, Maryland, Harris earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business/corporate communications from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. Harris received numerous individual and team achievement awards, including a NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal in 2009.
