NASA Glenn Inspires Girls through Career Day Event

NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, will host its second Girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12. More than 50 sixth through eighth grade students from Cleveland’s surrounding area will participate in a day of STEM fun.

Media are invited to cover the event.

The young women will work in teams with female NASA mentors and participate in hands-on activities, facility tours, a design challenge and a career showcase featuring women at NASA.

The panelists are: Valerie Wiesner, materials research engineer; Mary Lobo, space simulation facility manager; Nicole Smith, senior project manager for the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle; Xiao-Yen Wang, aerospace engineer and Dionne Hernandez-Lugo, test engineer for advanced space power systems.
