NASA’s Glenn Research Center and Cleveland Public Library are teaming up to bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to the 2018 STEM Festival at First Beulah Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. First Beulah is located at 5706 Woodland Avenue in Cleveland.
NASA Glenn will randomly distribute a limited number of Golden Astronaut tickets to those who visit its exhibits. Ticket holders are candidates for a special tour of Glenn Research Center on Saturday, Sept. 29, in celebration of the agency’s 60th anniversary. This is the last planned opportunity to get a Golden Astronaut ticket.
In addition, STEM Festival visitors can step into the future of space exploration and air travel at NASA’s interactive exhibit, where they’ll enjoy the following activities:
- Curiosity Mars rover Xbox game – Land NASA’s rover on Mars
- Explore wind tunnels and a moon of Saturn in virtual reality
- Find out how high you can jump on Mars and the Moon
- Learn how to shoot a basketball in microgravity
- Find out about breakthroughs made with vacuum chambers
- Build and experiment with a lunar rover
NASA’s exhibit will showcase the future of space exploration including the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System rocket. Also, visitors will be treated to a free “Picture Yourself in Space” photo.
