On Dec. 2, 2019, European Space Agency astronaut and current International Space Station Commander Luca Parmitano and ​crewmate Andrew Morgan (out of frame) performed the third spacewalk to repair the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS), a cosmic particle detector. In this image, Parmitano is attached to the Canadarm2 robotic arm as he worked to upgrade the new thermal pump system that was installed on the AMS.
