Wallops Safety and Mission Assurance Division

The Wallops Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Division creates and uses NASA safety policies at Wallops. We handle flight and ground safety for vehicles, workplace safety and health programs, equipment safety, pressure systems, and quality control for Wallops programs and projects. We also offer these services to commercial customers when needed.

Our team analyzes flight vehicles, ground systems, and operations to find risks and ensure safety. We set up safety measures to protect the public, staff, and environment from hazards. The division tests and certifies Flight Termination Systems, supports safety committees, provides safety training, and helps with safety engineering for all WFF projects.
