Professional Biography

Vidal embarked on his journey in atmospheric science in 1996 when he collaborated with the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) on air chemistry and cloud physics research in northern Mexico. His primary objective was to investigate the changing patterns of rain and cloud occurrences in the region. During this period, Vidal’s interest in fieldwork, particularly related to clouds and aerosols, grew significantly. As a result, he decided to pursue a graduate degree in atmospheric sciences and successfully completing his master’s degree in 2000 at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Following his academic achievements, Vidal began working with scientists from various disciplines on atmospheric science research projects worldwide. His involvement in field campaigns has taken him to different locations across the globe.

In 2017, Vidal joined NASA and the Earth Science Project Office, assuming the role of a project specialist. In this capacity, he continues his collaboration with the airborne science community to plan and execute NASA-supported airborne field deployments around the world.

Vidal’s expertise in atmospheric science and his extensive experience in field campaigns make him a valuable asset to the scientific community.
