Acting Associate Administrator, NASA Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs

Marc Hone is NASA’s acting associate administrator for the agency’s Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs. As acting associate administrator, Hone directs a staff responsible for coordination of communications and relationships between NASA and the U.S. Congress. He also serves as a senior advisor to agency leaders on legislative and policy matters. Hone joined NASA as the office’s deputy associate administrator in December 2021.  

Hone’s experience designing, implementing, and directing messaging and strategic engagements among the highest civilian and military leaders and Congress spans 16 years. Prior to joining NASA and after retiring from an extensive military career, Hone held successive civil service positions as the deputy director of Congressional Affairs for the U.S. European Command and as the director of Health Legislative Affairs for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He then returned to the Navy Appropriations Matters Office as branch head for Congressional Support, director of Congressional Operations, and division deputy director.  

He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a bachelor of science in political science, and holds master’s degrees in engineering management from Old Dominion University and in government from Regent University.
