Professional Biography
Dr. Kevin Reath is a contracted Research Scientist employed through Bay Area Environmental Research Institute (BAERI) and a member of the Earth Science Division at NASA Ames Research Center.
Dr. Reath formally served as the associate program manager for the Earth Surface and Interior (ESI) focus area, and later as a sphere lead for Geosphere at NASA HQ from 6/2020 to 5/2026. He co-managed many missions during this time including EMIT, GEMx, LACCE, UAVSAR, EAGLE-VSWIR, and EAGLE-TIR. While taking a leading role in managing optical/spectral missions and projects.
Dr. Reath was a post-doctoral USGS Powell Center Fellow where he assisted in leading a research group with a focus on integrating InSAR, thermal, and degassing remote sensing data of volcanic systems. He was the first participant of a traveling PhD program which took place at the University of Pittsburgh, University of Alaska Fairbanks, University of Hawaii, and Bristol University which focused on thermal analysis of volcanic activity and hyperspectral analysis of geothermally active areas. His MS focused on using hyperspectral data to identify minerals related to geothermal activity at the University of Pittsburgh.
