Contracting Officer Representative

Malcolm D.K. Boston is a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for the Launch Services Program (LSP) at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In this capacity, he is responsible for coordinating comprehensive engineering, procurement, and financial reviews, and is knowledgeable of all facets of the Blue Origin and SpaceX launch services contracts. 

Experience

Boston has performed COR duties for several NASA LSP missions, including Perseverance/Ingenuity, Parker Solar Probe, SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s GOES-T (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-T), and many others.

Education

Boston received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Tennessee State University in 2001, followed by a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Ohio State University in 2004. He has worked in a variety of fields since becoming a NASA employee at Kennedy in 2004, including reliability, propulsion, and systems engineering.

Personal

Among his accomplishments, Boston is an Eagle Scout. He is a member of Kennedy’s Black Employee Strategy Team (BEST), an employee resource group supporting Kennedy by leading activities that foster relationships and communication throughout the workforce and encouraging leadership and career growth, particularly among African-American employees. He also participates in public outreach to local schools and universities, encouraging students to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines.

Some of Boston’s hobbies or interests include camping, skiing, barbecuing, and home renovations.
