
Jonathan Gleason
Associate Director For Flight Instruments, Engineering Directorate, NASA Langley Research Center
Mr. Jonathan Gleason joined NASA in 2005 leading technology and information systems for the DEVELOP National Program and has progressively advanced through positions of growing responsibility as the CERES Data Management Team Lead, the Principal Investigator for the OlyMPUS Project (an ontology-driven data discovery system), the Assistant Branch Head and Branch Head for the Climate Science Branch, and subsequently as Branch Head for the Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics Branch. Jonathan brings more than 8 years combined service managing Science Directorate branches.
During this time he was responsible for a portfolio of technology development initiatives, space-based missions, and a number of airborne atmospheric science measurement capabilities and campaigns, all in support of Science Mission Directorate programs and projects. Jonathan has guided SD projects through multiple independent reviews, evaluated and negotiated complex contract vehicles to support research initiatives, and had the unique experience of leading a branch through pandemic restricted teleworking status. Jonathan attended Christopher Newport University where he received a bachelor’s degree majoring in Computer Science and attended Old Dominion University where he received a Master of Computer Science.
Jonathan is currently on a detail to the Langley Engineering Directorate where he serves as the primary interface back to Science Directorate for flight instrument development activities. There he provides management and supervisory perspectives and institutional resource support to ED projects and capabilities with the goal of achieving milestones in support of NASA’s mission.
