
Jay Fletcher
Jay Fletcher is the Deputy Director of Programs and Projects at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley. He is a demonstrated leader, having served as the Deputy Director of the U.S. Army Aeroflightdynamics Directorate, Director of the New Opportunities Center, the Associate Director for Projects in the Aeronautics Directorate, and the Deputy Director of Aeronautics (Acting) at NASA Ames.
Prior to joining NASA, Jay led research and development in government and industry for more than three decades. During his 26-year tenure with the U.S. Army, Jay conducted research in the identification of flight dynamics models of helicopters from flight test data, led major flight test programs, and led the development and operation of the Army’s premier flight test vehicle, the Rotorcraft Aircrew Systems Concepts Airborne Laboratory (RASCAL) JUH-60A helicopter. Jay also led research projects in gas turbine engine control for United Technologies Research Center and introduced model-based engine control system design at Toyota Racing Development, where he was the lead engine development engineer for Toyota’s Champ Car racing program. He has a Master of Science in Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University, where he graduated Cum Laude.
