Professional Biography
Dr. Hyo-Sang Yoo is an aerospace engineer in the Aviation Systems Division, passionate about advancing aviation technology and developing future air traffic management concepts and tools. He began his career at NASA’s Airspace Operations Lab within the Human Systems Integration Division, working on various NextGen Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO) air traffic management concepts and tools in collaboration with the FAA and industry partners.
Before joining civil service, he led the USRA Aeronautics Research Support Group under NASA Academic Mission Services (NAMS), managing a team of highly talented engineers on projects such as Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Traffic Management (UTM), Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and Upper Class E Traffic Management (ETM).
His recent work has focused on developing the concept of Second Shift Capabilities (SSC) for wildland fire response and ETM Cooperative Separation Management (CSM). Dr. Yoo holds a B.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.
