Dr. John Dec – NESC Academy Biography

Dr. John Dec serves as a Senior Thermal Engineer at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) in the Structural and Thermal Systems Branch.  He has been at LaRC since 1999 and during that time has made substantial contributions to programs like the Crew Exploration Vehicle Thermal Protection System Advanced Development Project, NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) Autonomous Aerobraking Project, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), Mars Odyssey Aerobraking and Mars Sample Return Earth Entry Vehicle.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  He earned his Master of Science degree and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
