Alesyn Lowry

Alesyn Lowry serves as the executive director of enterprise strategy for NASA’s Human Spaceflight Mission Directorate. In this role, Lowry ensures mission objectives and priorities are advanced through integrated strategic planning and aligns the agency’s technical and institutional capabilities to support current and future mission needs. 

Previously, Lowry was the deputy associate administrator of management for NASA’s Space Operations Mission Directorate, the agency’s former directorate responsible for maintaining American leadership in low Earth orbit, supporting commercial space sector growth, and laying the foundation for future human exploration of the Moon and Mars. She was responsible and accountable for resources and management systems and processes to enable the agency’s human spaceflight portfolio including safety, success, and performance of its programs and projects. Lowry also served as a key advisor to the associate administrator for Space Operations. 

In 2020, Lowry was named the director for strategic planning and integration for NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate. In this role, she oversaw strategy development, performance management, and integration across the mission directorate’s programs. She advised the directorate’s associate administrator, deputy associate administrators, and chief architect on long-term strategy, technology investments, and tactical direction essential to NASA’s mission.   

Lowry joined NASA Headquarters in 2013 as an independent analyst in the Strategic Investments Division in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, overseeing mission performance and conducting strategic analysis. She later served as branch chief, leading NASA’s budget formulation and directing agencywide investment analysis and planning.   

Before joining NASA Headquarters, Lowry served as a lead business and finance manager for the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic, managing air traffic control modernization, MRAP (mine-resistant ambush protected) vehicles, and surface and subsurface naval fleet modernization. Prior, she served as an intern with NASA’s Launch Services Program. 

She is the recipient of NASA’s Exceptional Achievement Medal and several Group Achievement Awards for strategic planning, economic analysis, and acquisition leadership.  

Lowry holds a bachelor’s degree in business-economics from Miami University in Ohio and a master’s degree in business administration from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.
