Partners in Education Programming – NASA IV&V and WV Public Broadcasting

Dateline Fairmont, WV–   Partners in Education Programming—NASA IV&V and WV Public Broadcasting

Todd Ensign, Manager of NASA’s Independent Verification & Validation Facility’s Educator Resource Center (ERC) announces an exciting new partnership with West Virginia Public Broadcasting. NASA will present five instructional television programs for television audiences and classrooms throughout the viewing area on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. A variety of five programs will air October 6, 2010 through May 25, 2011.

The five programs scheduled for viewing are: 

NASA Connect (Grades 6-8) A series of math-focused programs supporting national educational standards in math, science and technology. Each 30-minute program will present concepts used everyday by NASA researchers. Educator guides and online activities are available.

NASA 360 (General Public) A 30-minute magazine-style program highlighting NASA’s impact on daily life. Real-life applications of technology, engineering, science and mathematics, including global warming; solar technologies; electric cars; ski designs; auto racing and many other technologies.

Ask an Astronomer (General Public) A series of videos in Q&A format about astronomy—examples include “Why is the sky blue?” “Why isn’t Pluto a planet anymore?” “Why doesn’t the sky fall down?”

NASA’s Destination Tomorrow (Grades 9-Adult)  A series of 30-minute programs focusing on NASA research. Each exciting program gives the audience an inside look at NASA and demonstrates how research and technology relate to our everyday lives.

SCI Files (Grades 3-5) The series introduces students to scientific inquiry, scientific method, and problem-based learning through various problems that challenge our six tree house detectives. Each 60-minute program includes an educator guide and complimentary website.
