NASA Langley interns recreate photo parade for competition
Langley Interns Win Spring Photo Challenge

Who doesn’t like an out-of-this-world parade? NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, worked together to recreate a parade scene of an astronaut coming home.

While NASA interns from all centers contribute across the nation to a variety of projects that help advance the future, they were given a fun, competitive photo challenge. In honor of the Apollo 50th anniversary, this year’s prompt was to recreate the setting, reactions and emotions of when the world saw the first lunar landing.

Langley interns banded together to create an iconic 60s-themed photo. What brought about the unique idea of an ‘Astronaut Returning Home’ parade was the desire to give all of the interns the opportunity to participate in the photo challenge. History intern Jack Ronayne and communications intern Andrea Lloyd worked together to coordinate the mock parade in a matter of days.

“This project quickly gained enthusiastic support from across Langley and I’m so grateful for each person that contributed,” Ronayne said.

During the entire operation, these two interns were given nothing but support from their fellow interns and the center. With the help of everyone working together, Ronayne’s and Lloyd’s hard work pulled off for the winning photo!
