Rubins maintains Heart Cells in MSG
iss048e045908 (Jul. 29, 2016) --- Retired NASA astronaut Kate Rubins changes media on the Heart Cells investigation housed in the Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG) aboard the International Space Station. This investigation studied stem cell-derived heart cells in microgravity and determined over 2,500 genes were expressed differently between flight, post-flight, and ground control samples. These results provide a better understanding of the effects of spaceflight on human heart muscle cells to protect future astronauts.
