
World War II Aircraft in a Hangar
A Consolidated B-24D Liberator (left), Boeing B-29 Superfortress (background), and Lockheed RA-29 Hudson (foreground) parked inside the Flight Research Building at what was then the Lewis Research Center in 1944. A P-47G Thunderbolt and P-63A King Cobra are visible in the background. The Cleveland-based laboratory, now the Glenn Research Center, utilized 15 different aircraft during the final two and a half years of World War II.
