D-558-II Skyrocket

Viewed in this 1954 photograph is the NACA High Speed Flight Research Station's D-558-II #2 (144), an all rocket powered Skyrocket. Like the X-I, the D-558-II had a fuselage shaped like a .50 caliber bullet.
