Duque works on protein crystals in MSG
ISS007E17880 (Oct. 20, 2003) --- Retired European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Pedro Duque works on an early iteration of the PromISS investigation series in the Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG). This investigation consisted of a holographic microscope intended to observe and evaluate the growth of protein crystals in a space environment. To date, the space station has hosted hundreds of protein crystal growth experiments, and these high-quality crystals have and will continue to inform the creation of new and better treatments for diseases.
