A celebrity cluster in the spotlight
In this Webb image of galaxy cluster MACS J1149, we can see over 300 confirmed galaxies (and potentially hundreds more) gravitationally bound together. At the cluster’s center are elliptical galaxies, fuzzy in appearance, that dominate the cluster with their immense gravity.
