Why is it important for there to be women in Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) jobs at NASA?

It’s important for women to be in Information and Communications Technology fields because there aren’t enough people in these fields. The needs for information and communications technology are increasing exponentially and we need qualified people to satisfy these roles. Having more women in these fields will help to satisfy these needs and change the current male-dominated environment, which should improve discrimination against women in the workplace and encourage women to stay in the field. Additionally, most of our efforts require working in teams. Women tend to approach problem solving differently, and having diversity of thought amongst the team often produces better results. Lastly, it’s important to have women in these fields to encourage the next generation of young girls to pursue careers in technology. When the younger generation witnesses women being successful in technology roles, they will be more likely to seek opportunities in these fields.› We Are NASA SCaN Image Gallery
