What makes your job unique or exciting?

We get to interact with virtually every mission, providing communications and navigation support to an incredibly diverse set of missions. We get to feel like we are a part of those missions’ discoveries and achievements. By providing these missions with essential support, we get to learn more about the science data we help collect and ultimately learn more about our universe.

How does your position contribute to NASA’s mission for exploration?

In the Exploration and Space Communications projects division, we interact with all centers and networks. For example, for human spaceflight, we get to work with people from Johnson Space Center and integrate their needs amongst the Space Network, Near Earth Network, Deep Space Network, NASA Communications (NASCOM) and other government agencies. These networks are critical to ensuring successful communications. Additionally, we get to work with industry partners to help provide commercial solutions, enabling mission success in a cost-effective manner.

What is your favorite thing about working for NASA?

I enjoy meeting young people with enthusiasm for NASA and its missions. I connect with young people to show them what they can do because there are so many opportunities here, and we want to encourage people to join us. Getting to meet new people and doing outreach is a fantastic benefit to working here.
