NASA maintenance technicians Eugene Smith and Corey Saathoff of Computer Sciences Corp. remove fairings prior to removal of the pedestals on the aft mounting struts atop NASA 911, one of NASA’s two modified Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. The pedestals were used to secure the prototype Space Shuttle Enterprise to a barge that transported the craft from Kennedy Airport to the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum in New York City where Enterprise was placed on display in 2012.January 26, 2012NASA / Tony Landis
