NASA’s 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) with Space Shuttle Discovery mounted on top flies over the Virginia countryside on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 after a low-level flyover of metropolitan Washington, D.C. The fly-over, coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration, occurred near the conclusion of a ferry flight from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the Dulles International Airport to deliver the shuttle to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA, adjacent to Dulles, where is it now part of the museum’s permanent exhibit.April 17, 2012
