This natural color image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument aboard Terra at 8 a.m. EDT (12:00 UTC) on Aug. 12, 2016. Smoke appears light brown and was blowing to the southwest. Red areas indicate heat signatures of the fires.
