The 11th annual NASA Stennis Space Center Director’s Community Briefing took place March 23 at the Brownstone Center on the campus of Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi. Stennis Director Dr. Rick Gilbrech delivered the annual state of Stennis address to over 150 business and industry leaders from Mississippi and Louisiana. The NASA Stennis director discussed ongoing activities at Stennis and the outlook for various areas of Stennis operation, including propulsion testing, autonomous systems work, range operations, and growth of the federal city. In addition to Gilbrech, other leaders presenting updates during the event included Lonnie Dutreix, director of NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans; and Jennifer Hailes, acting technical director of the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command at Stennis. Dr. Adam Breerwood, president of Pearl River Community College, welcomed participants to the event. Partners for Stennis and Michoud hosted the event and Chairman Mark Glorioso served as emcee. Partners for Stennis and Michoud is a volunteer group composed of regional Chambers of Commerce, economic development foundations, businesses, educational institutions, local governments, community groups, and individual citizens who desire to encourage development of Stennis and Michoud.
