The Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) mission is designed to explore Mars‘ ionosphere and atmosphere, as well as its interactions with the sun and solar wind. MAVEN data is used for a better understanding of what caused Mars’ atmosphere to deplete over time, which in return, gives us a better understanding of the climate, liquid water, and planetary habitability of Mars itself.
The Deep Space Network provides communication and tracking services through its 34 meter antennas.
