The goal of NASA’s Artemis program is to return humans to the moon and the Vertical Motion Simulator (VMS) is slated to play a key role. In November 2020, three critical Artemis stakeholders came to the VMS to experience its capabilities first-hand. Three groups, from Dynetics, Blue Federation, and the NASA Astronaut Office, each spent a day flying a legacy lunar lander simulation and experienced the VMS large motion envelope and how the VMS facility can be used to develop, test, and certify the future Human Landing System.
