 Engineering & Technical Support

Engineering SupportFull-lifecycle engineering support with expertise in guidance navigation and control, systems engineering, mechanical, electrical, and software systems. WFF’s engineering team and facilities support balloon, small satellite, and suborbital missions, with tools available in the Mission Planning Lab.
Support ServicesComprehensive mission support through a variety of facilities, including high bay assembly buildings, clean rooms, bridge cranes, aircraft operations hangars, an airfield, a Mission Operations Control Center, and an Integration and Control Facility.

Integration & Testing

Electrical Integration and TestingWFF features the following buildings and services to assist in Electrical Integration and Testing: EMI/EMC Measurement Facility, Anechoic Chamber, GPS Simulation Lab, Radar Lab, Microwave Lab, Electrical Lab, and Telemetry Ground Stations.
Mechanical Integration and TestingFull-service Mechanical Integration and Testing capabilities, backed by dedicated facilities including Thermal Vacuum Chambers, PV/T Vacuum Chamber, Altitude Bell Jar, Environmental Test Chamber, Vibration Test Facilities, Balancing Machines, Mass Properties Measurement System, Spin Deployment Facility, and Bend Test Facility.

Launch Support ServicesWallops offers suborbital and orbital launch services, supporting sounding rockets, balloons, and scientific aircraft for Earth and space science missions. WFF robust launch infrastructure includes a large ocean range, airport, hangars, and worldwide mobile range services covering Radar, Telemetry, Range Control, Weather, Surveillance, and Command, with capabilities spanning suborbital and orbital expendable launch vehicle (ELV) operations.
Project ManagementStreamlined project management services to support the full planning and execution of assigned missions, including instrumentation support, range and launch readiness reviews, and coordination toward Authority to Proceed. Project Management is tailored to ‘Do No Harm’ missions, ensuring rightsized Mission Assurance without compromising safety.
