Biography

Noah Petro first became interested in Geology as a student at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, NY. It was while he was a student at Bates College that he was introduced to the field of planetary geology. Following his PhD work at Brown University his work towards understanding the geology of planets, especially the Moon, has been his passion. Studying the composition of the Moon via remote sensing allows him and others to identify interesting areas to explore. Now the exploration of smaller bodies presents exciting possibilities, and planning how such exploration can use remotely sensed data to benefit the science humans and robots will conduct on the surfaces of these bodies is something he will investigate.
