NASA Selects Awardees to Support Science Learning

NASA has selected 27 organizations across the nation to begin negotiations leading to awards/extensions for cooperative agreements totaling $39 million a year to implement the next phase of Science Activation—a community-based approach to connect NASA science with learners of all ages.

Selections were made by the agency’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) in Washington, D.C. for the next five years. Selectee activities will support the science discipline areas of Earth science, astrophysics, planetary science, and heliophysics.

Negotiations for specific monetary amounts will now begin. Discussions will include scaling strategies, measures of success, and independent evaluation, in addition to other tasks. Final awards are expected to be made by the end of this year.

“NASA science seeks to serve new communities and expand connections with our premier scientists and engineers. We do that through innovative partnering, and I couldn’t be prouder of the cadre of awardees.” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for SMD.
