Langley Scientist Participates in Arizona SciTech Panel Discussion

Marilé Colón Robles, a project scientist for NASA’s GLOBE Clouds citizen science program at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, participated in a recent virtual panel discussion on Hispanic leaders in science and space as part of the 2021 Arizona SciTech Festival. Univision Arizona hosted the Feb. 18 panel discussion, which also included former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez, Ad Astra founder and CEO Jose Morey, and host Liliana Salgado. Topics included the landing of NASA’s Perseverance rover on Mars earlier that day; the wide variety of careers in STEM and the importance of family support and life experience in the pursuance of those careers; the possibility of life on Mars or in other parts of the universe; and the importance communication and teamwork. A recording of the discussion, which was in Spanish, is available on the Univision Arizona Facebook page. The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program is an international science and education program that provides students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in data collection and the scientific process, and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment.
