Nicole Jordan

Manager, Spacecraft Office

Nicole Jordan is manager of the Commercial Crew Program’s Spacecraft Office. Jordan’s office is responsible for ensuring that Boeing and SpaceX spacecraft designs meet all NASA requirements leading to system certification.

Experience

Jordan joined CCP in 2017 as a systems lead in the Spacecraft Office. Previously, she worked in the Flight Operations Directorate as the Commercial Crew Integration lead for the Boeing CST-100 in the Astronaut Office, and as a flight test engineer at Ellington Field in Houston.

Jordan also served as the flight lead for the first SpaceX cargo mission (CRS-1) to the International Space Station, the first operational cargo mission for SpaceX to the space station. From 2006 to 2010, she worked on developing the next generation of space suits and life support equipment.

Her career at NASA began with a high school internship program and continued through her undergraduate and graduate careers. Jordan has published over a dozen academic papers in the area of spacesuit engineering and analysis.

Education

Jordan earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, with honors, from Stanford University in 2004, and a master’s in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2006. She also received a master’s in technology and policy in 2006 from MIT, where she received the Thesis of the Year award.

Personal

She is a passionate adventure traveler and enjoys hiking, mountaineering, and scuba diving. She also is an instrument-rated private pilot and mentor with the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters organization. Jordan’s hometown is Friendswood, Texas, and she currently resides in the Houston area.
